Four properties and three vehicles, worth more than $10 million, have been restrained in St Heliers, Kumeu and New Lynn.

Source: New Zealand Police (National News) Police have carried out 12 search warrants across Auckland this morning as part of an investigation by the Financial Crime Group into money laundering and other offences. Ten arrests have been made with more than $10 million in assets being restrained. Detective Inspector Lloyd Schmid will be available to speak with media this afternoon at the Auckland City Police Hub at College Hill at 4.15pm. Media wishing to attend are advised to assemble outside and scan in before being escorted to a conference room inside the station. ENDS

A crack down on money laundering in Auckland - 17-Mar-2021

A crack down on money laundering in Auckland 17 March 2021 Police have arrested 10 people and restrained more than 10 million dollars across the city this morning, in Operation Ida. Detective Inspector Lloyd Schmid says this is the third operation run in 2020 and 2021. He says in total they have seized 21 million dollars in assets, including a luxury home in Auckland city. The 10 offenders will appear in Auckland district court tomorrow and next Tuesday.
