Empower traditional rulers to fight insecurity menace in Nigeria, Kwara monarch tells FG

In view of the worrisome cases of insecurity in Nigeria, a traditional ruler, Oba Abdulwhab Abiodun-Oyeyemi, the Alatanda of Atanda community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has called on the federal, state, and local governments to empower them with logistics to fight the menace.
The monarch who expressed the readiness of traditional rulers to partner governments in curbing insecurity in the country described it as the only option that could save Nigeria from her current travail.
The royal father stated this at the weekend during his 21st coronation anniversary and launching of an ultra-modern central mosque in Atanda community.

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered that a 40-year-old man, Oladipupo Seun, who allegedly raped an 18-year-old girl, be remanded in a correctional centre, pending legal advice.
The police charged Seun with rape.
Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade, did not take the plea of Seun, because the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

Agbeku (Kwara), Feb 22, 2021 APC Caretaker Committee chairman in Kwara, Bashir Bolarinwa, has rejected the membership registration and validation exercise in the state, describing it as a sham.
Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Alhaji Tajudeen Aro, however, dismissed the view in a reaction in Ilorin on Monday.
Bolarinwa condemned the exercise at his hometown, Agbeku, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state where he alleged its manipulation by the Sen. John Damboyi-led committee registration committee.
He told newsmen that 12 days after the commencement of the exercise, registration officials showed up at his unit for the first time on Sunday.

The chairman lamented that majority of members of APC in Kwara were denied registration, which he said was against the guidelines and directives of the party.

Traders at Oja-Oba market in Ikirun of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State on Saturday wept profusely following the outbreak of fire incident that razed down the market.
The fire which destroyed property worth billions of naira in the market left residents of the area running helter-skelter to escape being victims of the fire incident.
However, efforts made by people at the scene of the incident to get across to firefighters in Ikirun and Osogbo proved abortive as the latter’s cell phones were said to be unreachable.
According to an eyewitness account, “the fire could not be quenched for several hours as efforts to reach the state fire services yielded no positive result by those who first put calls across to them.”
