Thousands of students may lose global university slots
With the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India proposing to conduct class 12 examinations between July and August and declare results in September, uncertainty looms over the future of thousands of students who plan to study abroad and who will miss the deadlines set by their universities for submission of class 12 marks, writes Fareeha Iftikhar for the

Other boards will likely follow the schedule adopted by CBSE. Most students and parents were hoping a decision would be taken to cancel the exams on account of the risk that comes from holding a large event. International boards such as IB (International Baccalaureate) have already cancelled their final exams.

This is just an absolutely wonderful place. I’ve been so honored and privileged to be welcomed with open arms by the principals, the teachers, the staff…even the community members. I had an incredible meeting with the head of the Boys and Girls Club of Lansing; speaking with retirees, people who were principals in the district, and of course, the teachers. I was lucky enough to help distribute teacher appreciation bags in the rain, in the cold, with the union…really just getting to say hello and to thank people. My impression is just one of overwhelming care and wanting to help the community and the students that we’re supposed to serve.

When ranking high schools, U.S. News bases its high school rankings on a number of factors including overall student performance on state-required tests; how effectively schools educated their disadvantaged students; high school graduation rate; and how well they prepared students for college based on participation in and performance on AP (Advanced Placement)and IB (International Baccalaureate®) exams.
