A teenager accused of attempting to murder a friend was holding the muzzle of a shotgun less than five feet away from him when he blasted him in the face, a court has heard.
Giving evidence at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday (June 3) firearms expert Mark Robinson said the muzzle of the 12 bore double barrelled shotgun used in the attack would have been more than 0.75m from the boy’s face but less than 1.5m (five feet) when it was fired.

The trial of a Stowmarket man accused of wounding another man is due to take place in July.
Before Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday (January 7) was 41-year-old Jamie Ricketts of Gainsborough Road, Stowmarket.
He has denied wounding Arron Goddard with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm in November 2019.
His trial is expected to take place during a two week warned list commencing July 2.
Ricketts is on conditional bail.

Bury St Edmunds man warned he faces jail over threatening messages sent to former partner

The trial of a Colchester man accused of stealing more than £6,000 during burglaries at branches of The Works in Suffolk and Norfolk will take place next year.
George Welford, 53, of View Road, Cliffewoods, Colchester, pleaded not guilty at a plea and trial preparation hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday ( December 17) to burglaries at branches of The Works in Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and Dereham in January and February this year.
He is alleged to have stolen £1,500 from the branches in Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds and Thetford and £1,700 from the Dereham branch.
