Premium Content Subscriber only A MAN found with 91 marijuana plants growing in his yard told police they belonged to a friend, Ipswich Magistrate’s Court heard on Monday. Brendan James Ainsworth, 32, a forklift operator from Leichhardt, pleaded guilty to being an occupier who permitted use of place for the production of dangerous drugs at Leichhardt on December 12 last year; unlawful possession of a dangerous drug (cannabis); two counts of being in possession of anything used in a drug crime; possession of drug utensils; and unlawful possession of a flick knife. Prosecutor Sergeant Paul Caldwell said officers saw the plants growing in the front yard and searched the house.

The 24-year-old from north London was arrested at around 4pm on Thursday, January 28, in Wherstead Road. Following his arrest a large amount cash was seized. A related search of a London property resulted in a significant quantity of class A drugs also being seized. Junior Elegbede, of Town Road in the London Borough of Enfield, has subsequently been charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and being concerned in the supply of heroin.

Ipswich man given three suspended sentences

Suffolk Magistrates Court in Ipswich Picture: ARCHANT - Credit: Archant A 34-year old man from Ipswich has been sentenced to a suspended sentence for burglary and drug offences in Ipswich. Michael Knock, 34, of Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court, earlier today (Thursday January 28).  He was given a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, for burglary and a further two, two-week sentences, suspended for 12 months, for possession of Class A drugs. The sentences will run consecutively. It follows an incident on Sunday January 10, when Goldings Auctions in St Helens Street was broken into between 10.45pm and 11pm. At some point in that 15 minutes, a window was smashed and an iMac computer was stolen.
