The community is rallying around the family of late Delmar Police Department Cpl. Keith Heacook with multiple events.
Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Kylan Barn in Delmar, volunteers will apply a blue line to back windshields in tribute to Heacook. It s free but donations will be accepted, which will go to the Heacook family.
A limited amount of stickers featuring Heacook s badge number will be available, as well. Tents will be set up in case of rain. Food from Mission Barbecue will be available and DJ Kopec will play live.
The event is being hosted by The Blue Line Network, a nonprofit that provides support and resources to first responders and their families.

Cpl. Keith Andrew Heacook, badge number 913-10, answered his final call of duty Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Born Dec. 7, 1966, in Pompton Lakes, N.J., he was the youngest of seven children.
Officer Heacook graduated from Cape Henlopen High School and Sussex Tech with the class of 1986. Following his high school graduation, Keith earned his degree in criminal justice from Del Tech Community College in Georgetown. The first four years of Keith’s career in law enforcement began at the Wicomico County Detention Center. On June 28, 1998, he joined the Delmar Police Department, and proudly served his community for over 22 years.
He was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, and a friend to everyone he knew. The oath he took to protect and serve became more than just a job to him; it was a lifestyle. A funeral for Cpl. Keith Heacook of the Delmar Police Department is planned for Monday, May 10.
The service will take place at noon at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church on Beaglin Park Drive in Salisbury, with the Rev. Christopher Labarge of St Francis de Sales Cathoic Church officiating, according to an obituary for Heacook posted online Monday. Visitation will occur from 10 a.m. to noon and internment will be private.
Heacook was critically injured when he was assaulted while responding to a report of a fight in progress at a Delmar home at about 5:12 a.m. Sunday, April 25.
Officials at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore declared him clinically deceased at 12:48 p.m. Wednesday, April 28. At that time, Heacook remained on life support so that his organs could be donated.

DELMAR, Del. – Funeral arrangements for Corporal Keith Heacook have been announced.
The service will be held on Monday, May 10th, at 12 p.m., with visitation from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Both will take place at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury.

Chief William Emerson Higgins, 82, of Salisbury, Md., passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional. Born in Seaford, he was the son of the late Emerson G. Higgins and Sarah Elizabeth Graham Higgins.
Bill, also known as “Pinky,” was a 1956 graduate of Seaford High School. He earned his nickname from wearing pink socks in high school. In 1959 Bill was appointed as a police officer with the Seaford Police Department. He retired in 1980 as a lieutenant after 21 years of service. He also served as chief of the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department. In 1980, he was appointed deputy chief of the City of Salisbury Fire Department and served in that position until 1992 at which time he was selected to be the fire chief. In 2000, he retired and worked part time with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office in Court Security.
