Implementation of SOPs imperative to prevent fourth wave of virus: Alvi

Daily Times July 25, 2021 President Dr Arif Alvi Saturday expressed grave concern over violations of COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) throughout the country and said that the compliance of the guidelines was immensely important to prevent the fourth wave of the coronavirus and reduce its negative effects. The President said while chairing a meeting on the COVID-19 situation and development projects in Sindh province, at Sindh Governor’s House here. Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar were also attended the meeting. President Dr. Arif Alvi said that the guidelines of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) were not followed on the occasion of Namaz-e-Eid at Faisal mosque Islamabad and the COVID-19 SOPs were being ignored. President appeals to public to get vaccinated soon July 25, 2021 KARACHI: President Dr Arif Alvi has appealed to the masses that they should get vaccinated against coronavirus infection at the earliest while at the same time they should act upon the directions issued by the National Command and Control Centre against the spread of COVID-19. The president issued the advice as he chaired a meeting here at the Governor’s House on Saturday. He asked the authorities concerned to make sure that the people fully act upon the standard operating procedures prescribed by the government against the spread of the lethal infectious disease. He asked Sindh Governor Imran Ismail to hold a meeting with the Ulema of different schools of thought before the commencement of the sacred month of Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting should be held with the aim that the religious processions are taken out during Muharram in accordance with the government-prescribed SOPs for such gatherings.

July 24, 2021 Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said the objections raised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Governor Imran Ismail against the probable appointment of Barrister Murtaza Wahab as new administrator of Karachi don’t carry any value. He made this remark while talking to media persons on Wednesday, the first day of Eidul Azha. Responding to a query, he said the objections made no difference at all as they (the PTI and the governor) didn’t have any role in this affair. He said the law prescribed that it was the discretion of the Sindh government to appoint the city’s administrator.

Federal govt to compensate transformer blast victims: governor Imran Ismail

July 24, 2021 Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has said that the federal government will give Rs750,000 in compensation for the heirs of each of the persons who have lost their lives in the Hyderabad power transformer blast tragedy. In a statement issued on Friday, he announced that each of the persons seriously injured in the transformer blast tragedy would get Rs500,000 in compensation. The person who received minor injuries in the incident would get Rs300,000 in financial compensation. The governor said the people injured in the incident would be given the best possible health treatment by the government for their earliest recovery. He also telephoned Federal Energy Minister Hammad Azhar and asked him to conduct an impartial probe into the incident for fixing responsibility. He told the federal minister that whoever was responsible for the tragedy should be handed down a stern punishment.
