Air passengers were peeved over refunds in April

Domestic air travel in April may have declined by 27 per cent compared to March, but
passenger complaints rose substantially, thanks to refund-related problems faced by most passengers. With the second wave hitting the country during April, lockdowns and curfews were enforced in many states, leading to
flights being cancelled more often than not.
According to the
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a total of 399 passenger-related complaints had been received by the scheduled
domestic airlines in April. Of these complaints, a majority of them 75.9 per cent were related to refunds. This has been the highest percentage for complaints so far.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has directed aviation personnel who need to undergo breath analyser (BA) tests to compulsorily give “a declaration that they have not been exposed to alcohol consumption in the last 12 hours before duty”. And it has asked the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to do random testing of personnel like air traffic controllers, pilots and cabin crews while capping tests at 5% for flight crew (pilots and cabin crew) for the next three months.

NEW DELHI: The government has extended suspension of scheduled international flights till May 31, 2021. However Vande Bharat Mission and scheduled flights under the travel bubbles India has so far created which are currently not suspended by other countries will continue and people eligible as per government norms can fly to and from India on them.
Scheduled international flights were suspended on March 23, 2020, and the severity of the pandemic has meant that even after nearly 14 months there is no sign of the same resuming anytime in a hurry.
