Robust mechanism in place to deal with Covid-19 situation: Div Com Kashmir

Share Pandurang: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole today said that a robust mechanism is in place to deal with any kind of situation that may arise due to 2nd wave of Covid-19 in Kashmir division. The Div Com said this during his visit to Kulgam where he took stock of Covid containment measures and made on spot and detailed inspection of various medical and healthcare facilities associated with Covid management in the district. Accompanying the Div Com were, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad SSP Kulgam, Gurinder Paul Singh, Divisional Nodal officer for COVID, Dr. Waseem, ACR, CMO, Medical Superintendent and other concerned Officers.

Express News Service SRINAGAR: In an attempt to prevent the media from highlighting the grave situation of Covid-19 in Valley, Director Health Services Kashmir has imposed a media gag on doctors and health officials and asked them to desist from media interaction. “All Chief Medical Officers/Medical Superintendents/Block Medical Officers of Kashmir Division are enjoined upon to issue instructions to all the staff under their administrative domain to desist from media interactions, as it has been seen that contradictory and confusing messages are being circulated, which misinforms the public and creates unnecessary and avoidable panic,” reads a circular issued by Director Health Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Rather.

In this regard, a simple inauguration function was organised and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat inaugurated the Oxygen generation plant and dedicated it for patient care. On the occasion, the DC said that there is now capacity of 100 high flow oxygen beds in the hospital after induction of services of this 1000 LPM Oxygen generation plant.

6 years on, oxygen plant remains non-functional at DH Kulgam Suhail Bhat Srinagar, Apr 30: At a time when the Government is augmenting the existing oxygen facilities in the Valley, an oxygen plant is awaiting completion for the last six years at district hospital Kulgam in South Kashmir. In absence of the facility, the patients with respiratory ailments and pneumonia are being referred to territory care hospital for want of high flow oxygen supply. The doctors said the referrals put an extra burden on the territory care hospitals, which are already overwhelmed with the COVID-19 patients. “The doctors at these hospitals are already grappling with huge patient flow and referrals are only adding to the burden,” a doctor said.
