No backdoor contact with PDM: ISPR

Top Story January 12, 2021 RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar Monday said the military was subordinate to the government and was totally apolitical having absolutely no backdoor contact with the opposition parties as was being speculated in the media. Addressing a press conference here, General Babar said neither the military needed to indulge in politics nor should any attempt be made to drag it into politics. “Such allegations without any facts and which carry no weight should not be responded to,” he said. Responding to another question, he said the PDM leaders would be offered tea and water (Chai and Pani) if they marched towards Rawalpindi. The questioner wanted the military’s reaction to a statement of the PDM head Fazlur Rehman in which he threatened to march towards Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Concern exists over anti-army tirade by PDM: DG ISPR - RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar has said that concern exists in the military over the anti-army tirade by the 11-party Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM); however, the government demonstrated well in response. “Pakistan army is the subsidiary institution of the government, and the latter is tackling the issue well,” the director-general said in a media briefing held at Pakistan army’s general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday. Major General Babar Iftikhar also said that there were no back door contacts with the opposition alliance formed under the umbrella of the PDM.

The DG ISPR said in his tweet that the Fatah-1 is capable of delivering a conventional Warhead up to a range of 140 km. The Weapon System will give Pak Army capability of precision target engagementdeep in enemy territory, he said. The President, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and COAS have also congratulated the participating troops and scientists on successful conduct of flight test, Major General Babar Iftikhar added.
