This week is National Library Week. As part of the week’s festivities, the Knoxville Public Library will participate in National Library Outreach Day Wednesday. Director Roslin Thompson says this day will help celebrate the library’s overall mission of community engagement.
“It used to be called “Bookmobile Day.” But our services go beyond just the bookmobile that some bigger libraries may have. We have a really good outreach program. For example, we have delivery to homebound residents. We also deliver every two weeks to the nursing homes. We do outreach in different ways. So stop by and see us.”

The Knoxville Library’s annual mitten drive is down to its final week. Library staff are collecting mittens, gloves and hats for children and adults to donate to Helping Hands Knoxville and students at Knoxville Schools. Director Roslin Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS News that people can drop the items off in a box in the lobby. The drive runs through Thursday, December 31st.
