500 Hong Kong police officers raided the office of "Apple Daily", a publication owned by Jimmy Lai who is in prison for his role in democracy protests. Five editors were arrested. ATHENS – Greek police took into custody a fringe TV host who a prominent investigative journalist claimed wanted him killed and had orchestrated an attack on police and his own home to justify getting police protection.
Menios Fourthiotis was to be questioned over the accusations made by Kostas Vaxevanis that came three weeks after the shooting death of well-known crime journalist Giorgos Karaivaz, gunned down outside his home.
Police raided Fourthiotis home in a northern Athens suburb, said Kathimerini as Vaxevanis said he was making public the alleged death threat to protect himself in the wake of Karaivaz s murder.

Authorities in Albania must open an investigation into a recent string of unjustified detentions of journalists and immediately respond to allegations of reporters being assaulted by police whilst in custody, the International Press Institute (IPI) said today.

The International Press Institute has reacted to the arrests in the protests for the murder of Klodian Rasha.
According to IPI, Albanian authorities should launch an investigation into the unjustified detentions of journalists and respond to allegations by reporters that they were attacked by police while in detention.
IPI Deputy Director Scot Griffen said he strongly condemned these clear and flagrant attacks on media freedom. Tags
