Those living in Clementi would know that the area is conveniently filled with amenities like shopping malls, a cinema, a sports hall and plenty of eateries.
But even residents might be unaware of some of these lesser known things about Clementi:
1. Clementi Forest - A forest in the heartlands
Located at the heart of residential areas in the West lies Clementi Forest, which takes up 85 hectares in area.
Two rivers or channels run through the forest, one of which is uncanalised, with mud-bed and grassy banks. Photo via Brice Li Gif made from video courtesy of Brice Li.
One man had a rather up close and personal encounter with one of the most venomous snakes in Singapore.
Sudip Kumar Saha shared in Facebook group Nature Society Singapore some stunning photos of a Black Spitting Cobra he saw at Changi Business Park.
Snake was in an aggressive stance
He said that he had been taking a morning stroll along the canal in the area when he made the sighting.
The snake was near the railing and initially escaped Sudip s notice.
It was only when he heard a sound after walking past, did he look back and see that the snake had adopted an aggressive stance.

SINGAPORE: Valen Ng is having the time of his life in his own backyard.
It’s more of a 2m by 1m balcony, but it’s where the 12-year-old can spend hours every day, cutting up dried leaves and leftover broccoli, gingerly laying seeds inside dimpled layers of soil, pruning his chilli, bittergourd, kangkong and tomato plants.
If you are going on a trek anytime soon, it will probably be a good idea to look before you walk. After all, you will never know what animal might stop you in your tracks and claim your path as their own. So just imagine the shock on Stomp contributor anonymous ' face when he saw a crocodile chilling on.
