A juvenile dolphin was rescued in New Castle on Sunday morning.
The dolphin was spotted at about 10:30 a.m. at Battery Park by someone who heard it crying.
It was stuck on shore after getting caught in the rocks when the tide went out, said John McDerby, captain of the National Resources Police from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
The person contacted the Good Will Fire Company, which responded to the scene until staff from the Marine Education Research and Rehabilitation Institute arrived.
Fire company personnel along with Natural Resources Police set up a tent around the dolphin to keep it safe.
