The Deputy National President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Chika Onuegbu, is dead.
DAILY POST learnt that the former Chairman, Rivers State Chapter of TUC and National Industrial Relations Officer of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), died after a brief illness.
Sources said he complained of headache early Saturday and was rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost.
The outspoken labour leader, it was further learnt, recently bagged a distinction-Masters in Law- from a University in the United Kingdom.
His unfortunate demise has thrown the labour movement, friends and associates as well as residents of Port-Harcourt, capital of oil-rich Rivers State into deep mourning.

The Federal Government has inaugurated the ‘Bipartite Plus Committee’ on technical framework on the pricing of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol.
This is happening as the new price regime for PMS announced last week by the government, officially took off on Monday.
The inauguration was sequel to the outcome of a series of bipartite meetings between the Federal Government and the Organized Labour represented by the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Unions Congress to fashion out a framework to monitor and stabilise the petrol pump price.
The parley had agreed on December 8 to reduce the fuel pump price by N5 from N168 to N162.44 per litre with effect from December 14.

The Federal Government, on Monday, inaugurated the Technical Committee on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) Pricing Framework.
The Committee was inaugurated at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja by the Minister for Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, who said the Committee was expected to work assiduously to come up with a viable framework for PMS price modulation.
The minister noted that the setting up of the Committee was part of the continuation of the dialogue between the Federal Government and Organised Labour on the issue of the increase in fuel price and electricity tariff.
