PENGASSAN calls for balance of interests in PIB to sustain oil, gas industry

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, PENGASSAN has called on lawmakers working on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) to take into consideration areas that would sustain the industry in the proposed bill. The body, while making their submissions at the Public hearing on Monday, asked the National Assembly to balance the interest of the investors, workers, and the government to keep the industry robust. President of PENGASSAN, Festus Osifo stated this while insisting that the PIB must address the three core issues for a sustainable oil and gas industry. He said: “We must pass a PIB that will meet three basic obligations: to ensure more funds come to the government; ensure that the employees in the oil and gas industry are protected and ensure that it attracts investment to the country.

FG inaugurates committee on petrol as new price regime takes off

Punch Newspapers Sections Adelani Adepegba, Abuja The Federal Government has inaugurated the ‘Bipartite Plus Committee’ on technical framework on the pricing of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol. This is happening as the new price regime for PMS announced last week by the government, officially took off on Monday. The inauguration was sequel to the outcome of a series of bipartite meetings between the Federal Government and the Organized Labour represented by the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Unions Congress to fashion out a framework to monitor and stabilise the petrol pump price. The parley had agreed on December 8 to reduce the fuel pump price by N5 from N168 to N162.44 per litre with effect from December 14.
