Salvation Army falls short of kettle donation goal, still time to give Salvation Army falls short of kettle donation goal, still time to give By WSFA Staff | December 28, 2020 at 1:58 PM CST - Updated December 28 at 6:57 PM MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Salvation Army just finished one of its largest fundraisers, the Red Kettle Campaign, but unfortunately the organization did not meet its $230,000 goal. The effort fell about $50,000 short. Funds received this time of year make or break the Salvation Army’s ability to fund its feeding and shelter programs next year. While donations are down, demand for the Salvation Army’s services is up because of the pandemic.

Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign Is Short of Fundraising Goal

Alabama News Updated: So far, it has raised $182,957, well under the goal of $230,000. The Red Kettle Campaign is the Salvation Army’s biggest fundraising drive of the year. The money pays for food and shelter programs for the upcoming year. “We are so thankful for all who contributed to The Salvation Army this Christmas. We were all negatively impacted in 2020 by COVID-19 and want to ensure that we are making 2021 the best that we can for those who come to The Salvation Army for help,” Lt.  Bryan Farrington, The Salvation Army of Montgomery Corps Officer, said.

(Source: WSFA 12 News) By WSFA Staff | December 22, 2020 at 3:28 PM CST - Updated December 22 at 8:04 PM MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - With Christmas only days away, the Salvation Army of Montgomery is asking for help to meet donation needs for the holiday. The Salvation Army of Montgomery started this kettle season with a goal of raising $230,000. So far, they’ve raised just over $111,000. Leaders are clear they are thankful for every penny, but the need is higher this year because of the pandemic. Unfortunately, officials say the pandemic has prevented them from having as many red kettles and bell-ringers outside of stores.

Alabama News Network's Magical Christmas Toy Drive Has Biggest Year Yet

Alabama News All of us at Alabama News Network want to thank everyone who donated to our 7th Annual Magical Christmas Toy Drive. Thanks to you, we had our biggest year yet. Toys are still being delivered to the Salvation Army, but it already appears that our toy drive collected at least $15,000 in toys for the Salvation Army of Montgomery. These toys have been combined with those from other toy drives and are being distributed to hundreds of families in our area. Our toy drive had several changes because of the pandemic. The toy vault was moved from our TV studios to Eastdale Mall, where our interviews were conducted.
