In addition to her hard work and the gift-giving traditions she has created, hundreds of volunteers have made it happen. “We’re coming down the home stretch right now, and I have to admit this year has been overwhelming because of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Saponari. “For instance, we had to spread out the gift-giving over four days this week, instead of just one day, to meet social distancing mandates.”
