New online farmers’ market in Oak Ridge now doubles SNAP benefits

A new online farmers’ market in Oak Ridge called Market-To-Go launched its Double Up Food Bucks program this week, allowing SNAP recipients to double their benefits up to $20 per day for fresh fruits and vegetables.
SNAP is short for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and was formerly known as Food Stamps.
Market-To-Go has 24 food producers listed for the summer in Oak Ridge and offers curbside pickup or home delivery of farmers market products, a news release stated.
“Our goal is to make locally grown produce more accessible for everyone, and Market-To-Go does this, especially now that we accept and double SNAP benefits, Rebecca Williams, director of Grow Oak Ridge, which is the nonprofit organization that operates Market-To-Go, stated in the news release.
