The governor said the program would be funded through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund. The money s there, DeSantis said.  We need to figure out the best way to use it. DeSantis said the initiative places emphasis on the development and support of high-quality civics education. During his announcement Wednesday, DeSantis took on critical race theory and unsanctioned narratives, stating they will not be in Florida s curriculum. Critical race theory holds that American institutions are inherently racist and that race is a concept used by white people to further their power. Teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money, he said.  An additional $16.5 million in funding is proposed to be dedicated to training and classroom supports for teachers and school principals who focus on civics learning. 

New Mexico To Receive $979 Million In Federal School Aid: 90 Percent To Be Distributed To Districts, Schools

PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT NEWS SANTA FE New Mexico will receive $979 million in new federal aid for education, with 90% to be allocated by the Public Education Department to individual school districts and state charter schools to help safely reopen schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on students. Of the remaining 10%, half ($48.9 million) will be earmarked for evidence-based interventions to address learning loss; 1% ($9.8 million) will be used for evidence-based summer-enrichment programs; and 1%  ($9.8 million) will go toward evidence-based comprehensive after-school programs. After those earmarks, the Public Education Department will spend the remaining $30 million on previously established priorities including accelerated instruction, closing the digital divide and supporting students with disabilities and students at-risk.
