Walden Grove High School opened 10 years ago, and Principal Teresa Hill has led it from the beginning. Hill was recently named the Arizona National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Principal of the Year and is a finalist for the National Principal of the Year.
The Sahuarita Sun talked to Hill about her journey, the challenges of COVID-19 and what it takes to be a good principal.

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – Green Cove Springs Junior High Principal Jen Halter has been named 2021 Florida Principal of the Year, the school district announced Tuesday.
Halter has been at the school for six years and previously served as the assistant and vice-principal at Green Cove Springs Junior High where she helped lead the school from a “C” to an “A” school grade, which has continued to be maintained under her leadership.
Congratulations to Zach Fowler the Pleasant Grove Associate Principal for being recognized by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) in being selected as the Region 8 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year.
The TASSP Educational Service Center has 20 regions. By winning this region Zach Fowler is now to compete in the state-wide competition for Texas Assistant Principal of the Year. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within each region.

Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.
According to a press release, Zach Fowler has five years of administrative experience with one year at Pleasant Grove Middle School. He is a graduate of Southern Arkansas University and earned a Master of Education from Lamar University. Mr. Fowler is a graduate of the 2021 Leadership Texarkana class and is an active PGYA coach and Dixie Baseball coach.

NEWARK, N.J., May 3, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Suraj Kulkarni, 18, of Corvallis, Oregon, was named one of America s top 10 youth volunteers of 2021 on Sunday evening by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards during the program s 26th annual, and second fully virtual, national recognition celebration. Selected from a field of more than 21,000 youth volunteers from across the country, Suraj has earned the title of National Honoree, along with a scholarship of $5,000, an engraved gold medallion, a crystal trophy for his school, and a $5,000 grant from The Prudential Foundation for a nonprofit organization of his choice.
