Democrats burned through $1.4 million in legal fees during their attempts to overturn Iowa’s state-certified Second Congressional District election.
Marc Elias has been the Democrats’ go-to election attorney, and reports indicate that Democrats paid him more than a million dollars during the failed effort to flip the election result.
According to a report by the National Journal, since 2009 when Elias (pictured) became the head of political law at the firm Perkins Coie the firm has billed Democrat campaigns and committees more than $170 million. The report continued to add, in March alone, the House Democrats’ campaign arm, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), paid Perkins Coie more than $1.4 million. “Recount services” was the reasoning behind the payment, according to the quarterly campaign filings.

“We are very happy to reach an important milestone in celebrating our 10-Year anniversary as an organization in Minnesota. MN Bio-Fuels was formed to represent Minnesota’s ethanol and other renewable fuel producers. We have and will continue to represent the industry at the local, state and federal level,” said Brian Kletscher, board president of MN Bio-Fuels.
He said MN Bio-Fuels was formed in 2011 to represent Minnesota’s ethanol industry at the state legislature and to regulatory bodies, as well as increase ethanol consumption in the state through promotional and educational efforts.

With victory firmly in hand, U.S. Rep.-elect Troy Carter is wrapping up his work in Baton Rouge in preparation for his move to Washington, D.C. After his resignation today (April 29) from the Louisiana Senate, Senate President Page Cortez called the election for June 12 with a runoff if necessary on July 10. Qualifying will take place next week: May 5, 6 and 7.
Five diverse candidates are already considering the race for this West Bank seat: former state Sen. David Heitmeier, state Rep. Mack Cormier, state Rep. Rodney Lyons, Belle Chasse political insider Joanna Leopold, and Carter’s nephew, state Rep. Gary M. Carter Jr.

NEW ORLEANS In addition to run-off elections for seats to represent Louisianans in Washington and Baton Rouge, Saturday s ballot will include tax millages and bond proposals for voters in St. Tammany, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, Lafourche, and Tangipahoa parishes and Kenner.
