There are few stories the mainstream media enjoys more than âtrendâ stories.Whether itâs plant-based fake meat, live-streamed workouts, celebrity podcasts or Tic-Toc and other new apps, the media revels in reporting the latest trends that are sweeping the country â at least most of the time.
However, if the trend involves guns or the Constitution â especially the Second Amendment â donât look for stories anytime soon, even if itâs a viral national trend.
The mainstream media has missed one of the biggest trend stories ever â the massive surge in Second Amendment Sanctuaries at the state, county and local level.

Among California’s many screwball gun control laws, the state bars individuals under the age of 21 from legally purchasing firearms, including long guns (federal law prohibits the commercial sale of handguns to those under the age of 21, but does not bar them from buying rifles and shotguns or possessing handguns).
The Second Amendment Foundation and the Firearms Policy Coalition have teamed up to challenge California’s law, and this week the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals took up the issue, receiving briefs from both the plaintiffs and the defendants. As Brian Doherty at
Reason reports, the state’s argument is based around the absurd claim that at the time of the founding, those under the age of 21 were considered mere “infants” in the law.

Washington Governor Jay Inslee is throwing his weight behind a package of gun control bills that could ban virtually every semi-automatic rifle sold in the United States, magazines that can accept more than ten rounds of ammunition, and a requirement that every sale of ammunition go through a background check.
According to the
Kitsap Sun, the package has both Senate and House sponsors lined up, and with the governor’s backing, there will be a great deal of political pressure on rural Democrats to fall in line.
[Attorney General Bob] Ferguson and Inslee want to limit magazines to 10 rounds in Washington state. The bill makes exceptions for law enforcement, military and recreational shooting ranges.

Max Hastings I Grew Up on Guns Fail
USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Sir Max Hugh Macdonald Hastings is one of the preeminent British journalists and military historians. As a foreign correspondent for the BBC, he covered 11 wars and reported from more than 60 countries.
In 1982, Hastings was the first reporter to enter Port Stanley, after the British military kicked out the Argentinians and liberated the Falkland Islands.
Hastings was knighted in 2002 for his “services to journalism.”
He has written more than 25 books – mostly about military history. I have a couple on my bookshelf. They’re very good. I highly recommend Yoni: Hero of Entebbe: Life of Yonathan Netanyahu (Weidenfeld & Nicolson, 1980). It’s a great read.
