A Pound man is found guilty of killing a Green Bay Preble High School student. A Brown County jury returns the verdict against Jared Williquette on charges of Second Degree Reckless Homicide and Being Party to Armed Robbery. Williquette is one of three men accused of killing Frederico Abarca during a drug deal gone bad in February of 2019. He faces up to 65-years in prison when sentenced on July 12th. The other two suspects–Jarid Stevens and Gavin Rock–have plea hearings scheduled for next week.
Why do you want to become a judge?
I want to become a judge to serve as a change agent in our justice system who will not be satisfied with the status quo and will engage with the public to build greater trust and understanding. That starts with guaranteeing folks are treated with respect, dignity, and have the opportunity to achieve true justice back in the courtroom and guarantee every person is treated with those principles in mind.
I want to reduce harm, not create more. People come to courts in their worst moments looking for help and fair outcomes and too many leave feeling they didn’t have a fair shot and they weren’t respected in the process. That must change.
Updated: 11:20 AM CST Feb 19, 2021 A North Dakota homicide defendant who led federal agents in Wisconsin on a high-speed chase that ended in a fatal crash has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. Donald Cooper Jr., 28, was convicted of two counts of second-degree reckless homicide in the April 3 crash in Milwaukee that killed two people. The crash happened near 51st and Center streets. Cooper was fleeing from the U.S. Marshals Service when he ran a red light and collided with another car, killing 23-year-old Joseph Badora, of Greenfield, and 20-year-old Maria Buhler, of Sheboygan Falls. The marshals were following Cooper because he was wanted in connection with the January 2020 shooting death of a 29-year-old man in Minot, North Dakota.
