Teesta Treaty has become an internal challenge for India: Doraiswamy Indian envoy
Dhaka, Feb 15 (UNI) Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy on Monday said that the Teesta agreement is not being signed due to differences between the West Bengal government and the Indian government over Teesta.
He made the remarks while participating in the Decab Talk organised by the Diplomatic Correspondents Association Bangladesh at the National Press Club today.
The Indian High Commissioner said it was unfortunate that the Teesta treaty was not signed. The Teesta Treaty has become an internal challenge for India. We are working on this agreement. However, it is not yet clear whether the agreement will be reached during the upcoming visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
