President Paula-Mae Weekes, the Prime Minister and several religious leaders are calling on citizens to form a united front to tackle the covid19 pandemic.
The call was made during the National Day of Prayer at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s on Sunday. The day of prayer was announced by Dr Rowley on May 14.

Hospital beds running out for covid19 patients
Bed spaces at hospitals treating covid19 patients is running out.
According to Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards, principal medical officer in charge of institutions, on Saturday, overall hospital capacity in the parallel health care system was 64 per cent.
During a press conference at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s on Saturday afternoon, she said 73 per cent of the beds in Trinidad were full, as were 25 per cent in Tobago.
Caura hospital was at 78 per cent, Couva was at 71 per cent, Arima at 85 per cent, Augustus Long at 90 per cent, and overnight, St Ann’s went from zero to 18 per cent.

PRIME Minister Dr Rowley received a call from China s President Xi Jinping via teleconference at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann s on Tuesday.

Also at the meeting were Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne, Minister of National Security and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young, Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh and Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister Maurice Suite
PM: Amendment to change number of THA seats soon

THE Prime Minister has said amendments to the THA (Tobago House of Assembly) Act will be drafted and debated in Parliament in a few days.
Dr Rowley was speaking at a press conference at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann s on Wednesday afternoon.
Last Monday, there was a six-six deadlock between the PNM and the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) in the THA election. Since then, a presiding officer and chief secretary are yet to be chosen.
Rowley said this was something that should not be allowed to fester for too long.
