PM slams criticism of meeting with Venezuelan envoy

THE Prime Minister is unfazed by the Opposition s criticism of a meeting between himself and Venezuelan Ambassador Carlos Amador Perez Silva.
He said, Their head just hard. They re not learning.
Dr Rowley met with Perez Silva on Monday at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann s.
In a release, the Office of the Prime Minister said the meeting focused on issues related to national security, immigration and covid19.
It said Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Dr Amery Browne, Minister of National Security Stuart Young and Ricardo Sánchez, chief of the consular section of the Venezuelan embassy, also attended.

NAPARIMA MP Rodney Charles on Tuesday accused the Prime Minister of a diplomatic faux pas in recently meeting the Venezuelan ambassador to TT – a role which he said should have been delegated.
In a statement, he accused Dr Rowley of being “unfamiliar with the finer points of diplomacy.”
Charles said diplomatic meetings, all things being equal, are usually held among equals, with clear levels of what is deemed appropriate.

National security, immigration and COVID-19 were matters high on the agenda during a meeting between Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Venezuelan Ambassador Carlos Amador Perez Silva today.
The meeting took place at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s.
Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne, National Security Minister Stuart Young and Ricardo Sánchez, Chief of the Consular Section, Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela were also present at the meeting.
