The discovery was made before 11:30am this morning on the River bank on Mobhi Drive, Glasnevin.
Gardaí have confirmed that an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team are attending the scene and the area around Glasnevin Hill on Mobhi Road is currently sealed off.
It is not clear if the device is live, as of yet.
Investigations ongoing.

On Thursday afternoon calls were made to the police from concerned residents in the Ribble Valley who had come across some small shells and a large explosive. The devices were made safe, but only after the disposal unit confirmed a large 80mm shell had a live fuse mechanism and some remaining explosive material.

Unexploded Second World War Bomb Discovered In Shorwell

An unexploded World War Two bomb has been unearthed in Shorwell.
According to police on the Isle of Wight, a Military Bomb Disposal Unit is on its way to the site.
The bomb will then be assessed and dealt with accordingly.
Police on the Isle of Wight posted on Facebook: One incident worthy of mentioning is the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb which has been unearthed in Shorwell. Colleagues from Response and Patrol are currently awaiting the arrival of a Military Bomb Disposal Unit so that the device can be further assessed and dealt with accordingly.
