The Army Criminal Investigation Command, or CID, is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the brutal New Year s Day murder of a female drill sergeant at Joint Base San Antonio, or JBSA, in Texas.
Staff Sgt. Jessica Ann Mitchell was shot to death in her vehicle at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Interstate 10 in San Antonio, according to a CID news release on Thursday. She had been seen 15 minutes earlier at the 4th Quarter Sports Bar, located about 13 miles northwest of the base. We are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Staff Sgt. Mitchell s senseless murder and are asking the public to come forward if they have any information on this case, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, Chris Grey, an Army spokesman, said in the release.

A 1st Armored Division soldier at Fort Bliss, Texas has been charged with sexually assaulting three women over the past year, including a fellow soldier who was found dead a year on New Year s Eve.
Pfc. Christian G. Alvarado, of 1st Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, was arraigned on Thursday in a general court-martial hearing and charged with three counts of sexual assault, one count of aggravated assault and two counts of making a false statement to Army investigators, according to a Jan. 7 charge sheet.

Staff Sergeant Jessica Mitchell was found lifeless in her stalled-out 2019 White Dodge Charger on Interstate 10, near Vance Jackson Road, around 2:15 a.m. on New Year s Day. She was last seen 15 minutes earlier at 4th Quarter Sports Bar, located at 8779 Wurzbach Road. Mitchelle was later pronounced dead at University Hospital.
