The Army did not release the name of the two individuals who were relieved. Lt. Gen. Dive teams search for remains of decapitated Fort Bragg paratrooper

Dive teams have been brought in to help find the remains of a paratrooper who was killed at the Cape Lookout National Seashore in May, officials said Thursday.  Spc. Enrique Roman-Martinez, 21, was last seen May 22 while camping with fellow soldiers near Mile Marker 46 on South Core Banks. Roman-Martinez’s partial remains were later found May 29, after washing up on Shackleford Banks Island, which is part of the Cape Lookout National Seashore.  The Army Criminal Investigation Command is investigating the death as a homicide.  The autopsy report, which is from the Division of Forensic Pathology at East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine, notes that examiners had only a severed head, as neither the torso nor any extremities were available, according to the report

A hunter out for a deer was on federal reservation property adjacent to the sprawling Army base of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He had only driven his truck about half a mile up the soft dirt track road in the area between the Holland Drop Zone and Lake MacArthur when he found his path blocked by a gray late-model, crew-cab pickup truck. The vehicle appeared to have been stuck in the soft sand up to its rear axle.
