Chinese Ambassador calls on COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa   Published On Chinese Ambassador calls on COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday to discuss various important issues. According to a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two discussed issues of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation as well as the regional security situation. Issues pertaining to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were also discussed during the meeting. Referring to the Chinese Defense Minister’s visit to Pakistan earlier this month, Army Chief General Bajwa said the agreement signed would further strengthen relations between the two countries.

Imran Khan maintained that the intra-Afghan talks provide a “historic opportunity to Afghan leaders” for durable peace and stability through an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process, according to the Prime Minister’s Office. Taliban political commission delegation, led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, held a crucial meeting with Pakistan’s prime minister on the final day of the three-day visit (December 16-18). Taliban’s visit “is part of Pakistan’s serious efforts to facilitate the Afghan peace process to achieve a peaceful, stable, united, independent, sovereign and prosperous Afghanistan” the official statement said.

Top US officials hold talks with Pakistan army chief Gen Bajwa

Islamabad: Top US civil and military officials held a crucial meeting with Pakistan’s Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to discuss the resumption of peace process in Afghanistan as well as Pakistan-US bilateral ties. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation and General Austin Scott Miller, top US military officer in Afghanistan, visited the Pakistan Army headquarters on Monday to discuss matters of mutual interest, Afghanistan reconciliation process and overall regional security situation. Pakistan’s military delegation led by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Bajwa also included Director General ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid and other senior defence officials. The visit comes in the backdrop of the resumption of peace talks in Afghanistan after a three-week break by both the Afghan government and the Taliban.

According to ISPR, he was talking to US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and Commander Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan General Austin Scott Miller in Rawalpindi. Matters of mutual interest including overall regional security situation with particular reference to ongoing Afghan reconciliation process were discussed during the meeting.
