Maj. Gen. Kevin Vereen, commander of the Army Recruiting Command, based at Fort Knox, Kentucky, led a media roundtable Thursday about the event. He said the Army is focusing on 11 understrength career fields.
âWeâre really looking forward to the opportunity to be able to grow the Army,â Vereen said.
Last yearâs event produced 30,000 leads with people who wanted more information about the Army. âThis year we hope to double our leads, so roughly 60,000,â Vereen said.
With her fourth generation of military service, Lt. Col. Andi Tallman joined the Army to continue a family tradition. She said she still loves putting on the uniform every day.
On Friday morning she will relinquish command of the 2nd Medical Recruiting Battalion to Lt. Col. Brad Tibbetts, from Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. Tallman has served as the battalion commander since June 2019.
âItâs bittersweet,â she said. âCommanding in a COVID environment was very unique and I will truly miss my battalion. My Soldiers and civilians here are excellent. Second to none.â
The motto of the battalion, nicknamed the Gladiators, is âStrength and Honor, Second to None.â
