Buffalo man facing murder charge following shooting on Geary Street

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â A Buffalo man is facing a second degree murder charge following a shooting on Geary Street Sunday morning.
The Erie County District Attorney s Office says 61-year-old Michael B. Rattle was virtually arraigned Monday morning on one count of second degree murder.
Rattle allegedly shot and killed 63-year-old Daniel Wolfe inside an apartment on Geary Street in the City of Buffalo early Sunday morning.
He was remanded without bail, is scheduled to return to court on January 14 and faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
If convicted on all charges, Carlos Cherry, 40, faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

BUFFALO, N.Y. A Virginia man was virtually arraigned Tuesday for allegedly attacking two people at random.
Carlos Cherry, 40, was arraigned on an indictment charging him with one count of assault in the second degree, a class D felony and one count of assault in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Back on March 2, 2020, Cherry allegedly tried to buy beer from a convenience store located on William Street in the City of Buffalo. According to the Erie County District Attorney s Office, the clerk allegedly refused to sell beer to Cherry, who then turned to leave the store and allegedly punched a female bystander in the face.
The Erie Bureau of Police dealt with challenges throughout 2020.
Some were new, like keeping a law enforcement agency running and continuing to serve the public as COVID-19 posed a threat to the officers and the people they encountered.
Others were familiar, like a new spike in gun violence that approached levels not seen in the city in several years.
One was unexpected, as a night of violence that erupted following a peaceful protest in the city s downtown in late May led to allegations of brutality against members of the community and against the police.
The year 2020 featured a lot of change and a lot of adversity, Police Chief Dan Spizarny said in a recent wide-ranging interview that touched on a number of notable events.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â A Buffalo man was virtually arraigned Wednesday on one count of murder in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of a weapon.
The Erie County District Attorney s Office says 23-year-old Sidney Watson was allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Paris Warren, Jr. on Genesee Street near High Street on June 2, 2018. Warren, Jr. died at the scene.
Watson is scheduled to return to court January 5, he was remanded without bail.

Erie County Supreme Court Justice Catherine Nugent Panepinto has been censured by the state s Commission on Judicial Conduct after admitting to numerous violations related to her public support of Buffalo Public Schools teachers in litigation against the School Board.
The Commission is an independent state agency charged with investigating allegations of judicial misconduct against New York state, county, town and village judges. It said the original complaint was made in January.
The complaint alleged Panepinto made repeated public comments, assisted in providing legal advice, signed advocacy letters, executed an affidavit filed in Supreme Court and spoke with School Board members in support of a lawsuit by the Buffalo Teachers Federation in early 2018. The BTF s lawsuit aimed to stop the district from assigning supervisory and non-instructional duties to teachers at City Honors High School, where Panepinto s daughter attended in 2017-2018.
