There are currently over 50 Black girls missing from New York and New Jersey with nearly 20 going missing in the first few months of this year, according to the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. An investigative report by New York’s Amsterdam News has detailed multiple cases of missing Black adolescent girls who range in ages from 15 to 19.  “We’re seeing more and more young girls and boys lured into sex trafficking or meeting someone online,” said Natalie Wilson, co-founder of the Black and Missing Foundation. “These predators know how to navigate social media and they’re interacting with our children. Sadly, we’re seeing an uptick in kids who are going missing.”

New York State Team A 19-year-old Buffalo State College student who had been missing for nearly two weeks is presumed to have died by suicide at Niagara Falls, according to the Erie County district attorney. At a news conference Thursday, Erie County District Attorney John Flynn took reporters through a minute-by-minute account of Saniyya Dennis last known whereabouts, noting her boyfriend had broken up with her earlier in the day and that she had told him and another male friend that she was considering suicide. Dennis, a Bronx native, was last seen leaving her dorm building around 11 p.m. on April 24 before throwing out some personal items and boarding a bus to Niagara Falls, where Park Police cameras last spotted her after midnight, according to investigators.

PIX 11 reports that the rapper’s 19-year-old daughter, Saniyya Dennis, who is enrolled at Buffalo State College, is believed to be dead due to suicide. Authorities believe Dennis took her own life following a breakup. The sad news was confirmed by Erie County District Attorney John Flynn on Thursday (May 6) when he said, “It appears this poor girl took her own life.” Before her apparent suicide, Dennis was last seen leaving her dorm on the evening of April 24 and revealed that she was arguing with her boyfriend, which subsequently led to him calling off their relationship. In a series of text messages that she sent following the argument, Dennis threatened to take her own life.
