Author Eric Springsted to discuss Simone Weil book May 17

May 11, 2021 The Lewes Public Library will host a live, online discussion with the Rev. Eric O. Springsted about his new book examining the social, religious, and philosophical thought of Simone Weil at 5 p.m., Monday, May 17 via Zoom. Simone Weil was one of the 20th century’s most original and influential philosophers. In his new book, “Simone Weil for the Twenty-First Century,” Springsted presents not only a guide for reading Weil, but also an argument for the importance of her thought in contemporary times, in everything from politics to matters of faith. He stresses the need for human beings to understand themselves as communal beings and not as isolated individuals obsessed with their own claims of rights.
