Fallon/AFP via Getty Images The temperature in Death Valley reached a scorching 130 degrees on Friday, just 4 degrees Fahrenheit shy of the hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth, according to preliminary reports by the National Weather Service. The world record for the highest recorded temperature was 134 degrees on July 10, 1913, at Greenland Ranch in Death Valley, according to Guinness World Records. National Weather Service meteorologists said Death Valley won’t likely reach 134 degrees this weekend, but said there was “about a 1 in 4 chance” that temperatures would hit 130 on both Saturday and Sunday.
