Major milestones in Interstate 69 Ohio River bridge project expected by fall Two documents necessary to get an Interstate 69 Ohio River bridge built are expected to be on file by this fall. A completed Final Environmental Impact Statement and a Record of Decision with the Federal Highway Administration are key steps to getting the long-coveted project underway. Bridge construction will happen as funding becomes available in future years, the I-69 ORX project team said during a virtual meeting Thursday. The team currently estimates construction in the 2027-31 timeframe. It is hoped the pace can be sped up. “Both states are actively pursuing every opportunity available, whether that’s federal grants, bonds or other innovative financing options to accelerate this section and complete the entire project sooner,” said Dan Prevost, the I-69 ORX project’s environmental lead.
