Now President Biden has taken office, there is a prevailing sense that the US will once again look to re-engage with the world, after the erratic and damaging nature of the Trump Administration’s “America First” dogma.
Undoubtedly, this approach will benefit US allies – Britain included – but the prospect of a new era has promise for one of the most entrenched and enduring conflicts of the modern era: the division of Cyprus.

When you can make an origin declaration
An origin declaration must be made out by any exporter operating in a beneficiary country for any consignment provided that the exporter making out the origin declaration:
maintains appropriate commercial accounting records concerning the production and supply of goods qualifying for preferential tariff treatment
shall be prepared to provide at any time, at the request of the customs or other competent governmental authorities of the exporting country, all supporting documents or written statements from producers and suppliers which evidence a claim that the goods are originating

Joint UK-EU statement following the third meeting of the Withdrawal Agreement Specialised Committee on issues related to the implementation of the Protocol on the Sovereign Base Areas of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Cyprus:
The third meeting of the Specialised Committee on the Protocol on Sovereign Base Areas was held yesterday, 30 December via video conference, co-chaired by officials from the European Commission and the UK Government. The Committee was established by the Withdrawal Agreement to facilitate the implementation and application of the Protocol.
The UK and the EU discussed the remaining issues relating to the implementation of the Protocol, which shall enter into effect at the end of the Transition Period, and reaffirmed their continued commitment to its smooth implementation.
