  On Friday May 28th, the Van Wert Area Community Concert Band will present a concert in the band shell of Fountain Park in Van Wert, Ohio. The program will begin at 7:00 P.M. and is free to the public.  Music performed on the concert will include Patriotic selections that are intended to reflect, revitalize and rekindle the pride that each of use has as citizens of the best country in the world, the United States of America.   A few of these selections are, Freedom, A Song Of Hope, God Bless America, and God bless the U.S.A. Other selections will include music of the Beatles and Still as sung by Lionel Richie. Area military personnel and veterans will also be honored with a Salute To America’s Finest. 

New tiny home village will support veterans experiencing homelessness in Pierce County

A new tiny home village in Pierce County will soon be home to dozens of veterans experiencing homelessness. The Orting Veterans Village stretches across five acres of land at the Washington Soldiers Home in Orting.

Paul Mooney, Legendary Comedian And Chappelle s Show Great, Dead At 79

CinemaBlend Legendary comedian, actor and Chappelle s Show favorite Paul Mooney has died at the age of 79. Mooney died in his home in Oakland, California at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, after suffering a heart attack. Paul Mooney was known for his unflinching social criticism, and being able to bring a sharp wit to the subject of racism and race relations, which he did many times during his long career as a comedian, actor and writer, including during his collaborations with fellow comedy legend, Richard Pryor. Mooney s publicist confirmed his passing to Daily News. While Mooney made his on-screen debut with an uncredited role in a 1970 made for TV movie, he would go on to appear in many popular shows and films for the next several decades. Flagler County government marks Memorial Day on Monday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at the Government Services Building in Bunnell. (© FlaglerLive) Join Flagler County at its Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday, May 31, featuring Special Guest Speaker Sergeant First Class Melvin Morris, US Army (retired), Vietnam War Special Forces Veteran and Medal of Honor recipient. “It is an honor and a privilege to have a real life American hero like Sergeant Morris help us pay tribute to those who lost their lives in service to our country,” said Veterans Service Officer David Lydon. Morris was one of the first Soldiers to don the “green beret” at the command of President John F. Kennedy while at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on October 12, 1961. In the United States armed forces, the green beret may be worn only by soldiers awarded the Special Forces Tab, signifying they have been qualified as Special Forces soldiers.
