View Comments MANSFIELD - The Richland County commissioners agreed to spend $15,000 in COVID relief funds on a community effort to encourage people to get the COVID immunization, despite some reservations about the end result. Board members collectively said while they support COVID vaccinations, the late start for the promotion might result in spending tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars for a diminishing return on the outcome. Chamber of Commerce officials and community and health leaders asked commissioners last month to spend $25,000 in COVID funds on an informational campaign using local media to encourage county residents to get vaccinated. The board delayed a final decision until the group could ask the City of Mansfield to contribute some of its COVID relief funds to the project.
