Tremont Creamery opens in Massillon; shares space with Tremont Coffee

MASSILLON – Ice cream fans have a new, nostalgic-looking hangout in downtown to consume their favorite hand-dipped flavors. Jason Lamp opened Tremont Creamery in late April at 225 Erie St. N, sharing space within the Tremont Coffee Co. The historic downtown building housing both businesses, as well as the 41 Club, is based over a section of the obsolete Ohio and Erie Canal. Friends Mark and Michelle Kemp, owners of the coffee shop, worked with Lamp to create the more than 2,000-square-foot venue. The creamery s inside features rustic-style, wooden tables with barstools and sparkling, white lights that run along a vaulted ceiling. We were sitting around one day and said, What about ice cream? Lamp said about the idea for a new ice cream parlor. So it was like, OK, let s do it.
