Vestas has achieved a track record of 660 MW already installed in Ukraine. The contract for the Tiligulska project includes supply, installation and commissioning of 21 V162-6.0 MW wind turbines, alongside a long-term 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, enabling optimal power production throughout the project lifetime. The V162-6.0 MW turbines boast a swept area of over 20,000 m² and industry-leading energy production, while benefiting from the advanced modular design approach applied across Vestas’ EnVentus platform.

Gridtential Energy and EAI working to develop hi-tech batteries to support boost in demand for household solar energy
Friday, 26 February 2021 Engineers from Gridtential Energy Inc. and Electric Applications Incorporated (EAI), supported by the Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI), are working to further develop quick and safe ‘plug and play’ solar powered energy storage systems to meet the boom in demand for renewable, and secure, energy in US homes. Gridtential Energy is the pioneer of Silicon Joule, a bipolar battery technology which uses silicon wafers (similar to those in solar cells) in traditional lead batteries to reduce weight and achieve performance competitive with lithium-ion at a lower cost. The new research project will combine Silicon Joule technology with the testing expertise of (EAI) to develop high voltage reference batteries specifically for so-called behind-the-meter energy storage applications.
Friday, 26 February 2021 Leading organisations working on climate, community energy, green buildings and green finance have published a joint statement setting out key priorities to Government on solar, which can deliver benefits for both the environment and net zero as well as helping the UK to a green economic recovery from Covid-19. E3G, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, CPRE, the UK Green Building Council (GBC), WWF, Possible, Green Finance Institute and Community Energy England have signed a joint letter recommending the following priority policies to support the deployment of solar energy and storage in the UK, and deliver on the Government’s ambitions for net zero and a green recovery:

REC Solar Norway produces high purity silicon for use in solar cells, using a unique metallurgical purification method that REC Group claims consumes upwards of 75 percent less energy than typically competing processes, e.g., the Siemens process as used by the majority of the industry players, mainly in China.
REC Solar Norway has an annual production capacity of more than 8,000 Mt, corresponding to an annual solar panel production of about 2.5 GWp. Installed in Norway, these panels would produce around 2 TWh per year, enough to power all households in Bergen. Installed in a Mediterranean country like Spain, the panels would deliver in excess of 3 TWh annually over an expected lifetime of more than 30 years.
