On Dec. 1, Adams received the
Jerry Garland Award for Excellence in Supplier Diversity from the Illinois Utilities Business Diversity Council (IUBDC). The award originated in 2019 and is named in memory of former Illinois American Water Supplier Diversity Manager
Jerry Garland. It is presented annually to an individual who demonstrates exceptional results in advancing the practice of inclusion and diversity. The award was announced at the Illinois Utilities Business Diversity Council (IUBDC) annual Networking and Awards event virtually.

Adams’ role on the IUBDC has included support and leadership of the council’s Advisory & Strategic Planning Committee, Education and Best Practices Committee, Events Committee, and Communications Committee. EDWARDSVILLE – With two members constituting a quorum, the city’s administrative and community service (ACS) meeting went forward Thursday. Alderman William Krause was excused.
Of the issues discussed, three stood out an annexation north of Anderson Hospital’s Goshen Campus, putting video gaming on the April 6, 2021, ballot and discussion about Glen Carbon’s amendments to a $1 million intergovernmental agreement with the city for TheCENTER.
First, the committee discussed the village’s three proposed amendments to the agreement. Glen Carbon asked for three modifications, which were discussed somewhat at the village’s Dec. 8 meeting. Mayor Hal Patton told the village trustees this project has been in the works since 2014.

• Amending the City Code pertaining to the spending limits of the Public Works Department.
• Providing for the annual tax levy upon real estate situated within the city’s corporate limits that are subject to taxation for the fiscal year from April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021.
• To pay debt services on $8,750,000 general obligation refunding bonds.
