Two committees and the Illinois Department of Health are working on making sure no more women die due to pregnancy.

ILLINOIS (WTHI) The United States ranks last among other wealthy countries when it comes to maternal deaths. That s according to a report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
Across the country, states have taken steps to help prevent the deaths of mothers and their babies. Thursday, Illinois took a look at its maternal mortality rate and what health care providers can do to help.

SAN ANTONIO The city has appointed a new Director of its Metropolitan Health District, completing a months-long national search.
New Metro Health Director Claude Jacob will officially start in his new role on July 6.
The city says Jacob has served as the Chief Public Health Officer at the Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he oversaw the city s COVID-19 emergency response efforts, among other roles for the city.
