The United States has the highest maternal and infant mortality rates in comparison to other developed countries, and the statistics are worse for women of color. These disparities are leading to worsening health outcomes for pregnant and post-partum women, particularly in low-income and remote communities. In Illinois, Illinois Department of Public Health data shows that non-Hispanic Black women are six times as likely to die of a pregnancy-related condition as non-Hispanic White women

State Employee Oversight Leads to Missmailing of Health Information for Thousands of Illinoisans

Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), and the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) (collectively, the Departments) collectively notified the media today of the security incident with the State of Illinois’ Integrated Eligibility System (IES). According to the announcement, a state employee matched a file received from the National Change of Address registry at the United States Postal Service against an out-of-date client file.
