ISP to conduct enforcement patrols

MACOMB Illinois State Police (ISP) District 14 Commander, Captain Jon Dively, announced the ISP will conduct Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) patrols in Fulton and Henderson Counties during May. ACE patrols allow the ISP to focus on preventing, detecting, and taking enforcement action in response to violations associated with impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol or drugs. The ISP has zero tolerance for impaired driving in Illinois. Officers working the detail will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, and most importantly:

COMPTON – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a section of Illinois 251 south of Compton will be closed for culvert work between Tower Road and Shady Oaks Roads. Detours will be marked and repairs are expected to be completed on Friday, weather permitting.

The Interstate 80 bridge over the Mississippi River between Iowa and Illinois can be seen Monday, April 12, 2021, in Le Claire, Iowa. Chad Pregracke, an environmentalist whose Living Lands & Water operation has been cleaning up the Mississippi River for years, has a plan for the existing bridge if a new bridge is constructed to replace it elsewhere over the river. The Bison Bridge would take the current bridge connecting Iowa to Illinois, which is scheduled to be replaced, and transform it into grazing habitat for bison with 50 acres in each state. Illinois 128 to close May 3
BETHANY – The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that Illinois 128 about a mile south of Bethany Road will close May 3.
The closure is necessary to replace the bridge over Wilborn Creek. A detour will be posted during the work, which is expected to be complete in August.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
I-70/270/55 work starts May 6

TROY The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced a 21-day lane closure on the eastbound lanes of Interstates 70/270/55 between the I-70/270/55 interchange and 2.6 miles east of the I-70/270/55 interchange starting Thursday, May 6, weather permitting.
The eastbound direction will be reduced to a single lane, around the clock starting at 6 p.m. In addition to I-70 eastbound, the ramps from I-270 eastbound and from I-55/70 north/eastbound will be reduced to one lane also. This stage of work is necessary to make pavement repairs and is expected to be completed by June 1, 2021.
This stage of work is part of a larger project that will include many additional lane closures. The times and locations of future closures will be announced as the project continues. The entire project is expected to be completed by November. The contractor is Kilian Corp. of Mascoutah.
