The idea, organizer Wendy Streit said, is to bring something unique and fun to Lockport this May while helping some of the more than 40 businesses in Lockport that have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.

The Springfield Area Arts Council is announcing the recipients of its 2021 Community Arts Access grants in Sangamon and Menard counties.
From SAAC:
“Community Arts Access grants are given in conjunction with the Illinois Arts Council Agency and the City of Springfield. The grants provide the opportunity for local arts agencies like the Springfield Area Arts Council to distribute state funds in their own service areas according to local needs. The program is designed to give the community more access to the arts, especially among under-served populations.”
Here are the recipients:
Megalodon, the apex predator of the seas, was the largest shark to ever live, at nearly 60 feet in length. A recently published study suggests the massive shark reached its epic size because of oophagy: a kind of intrauterine cannibalism behavior.
Many events have been cancelled or postponed due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19.
Please check with events or venues to make sure that scheduled events are still, in fact, happening. Ask Dr. Art: Let s Look! Super Saturday Just like movies or stories, art can make you feel happy, excited, sad, or unsure. Sometimes art can be very confusing and that’s okay. Go behind-the-scenes to see a few art works from the new exhibit and ask your questions to our resident art expert, Dr. Art (Director of Research and Collections, Robert Sill)! Children and families will learn about different kinds of art, the elements that make them, and how to look closer together.
