Illinois Leaks | Thaddeus Jones Took Office Today As Calumet City s First Black Mayor –

Thaddeus Jones is a current Illinois State Representative, was the first Black Alderman in Calumet City, and is now the first Black Mayor in the history of Calumet City, Illinois. Jones took his Oath of Office at the noon meeting today in a packed room. Jones also helped elect the first black Alderwoman today, Monet Wilson.  Her son announced today that he has chosen to attend Morehouse College which is where Dr. King attended. Jones wife Saprina Jones was in attendance.  His mother and mother in law , whom he also referred to as “mother” today, were also there.  His mother is a recent Breast Cancer Survivor.

WIU School of Ag honors six alumni on department s 101st anniversary By Lissette Cavazos, Office of University Relations, WIU MACOMB In a tradition started during the Western Illinois University School of Agriculture s 100th anniversary, six alumni have been chosen as the 2021 School of Agriculture Distinguished Alumni. Ten alumni were recognized last year: Mark McCully, Gerry Salzman, Jeff Galle, Terry Kestner, Taylor Steinburg, Gordon Roskamp, Monte Lowderman, Chris Wilson, Martin E. O Connor and Philip E. Bradshaw. The 100th year anniversary event was a huge success, said School of Agriculture Director Andy Baker. The highlight of the evening was the recognition of our 10 distinguished alumni who were honored that night. All of these individuals have achieved remarkable feats in their careers and are huge supporters of the School of Agriculture. It was great to have our current students hear about their experiences at WIU, and how these experiences provided the foundation

March 11, 2021 MACOMB, IL - In a tradition started during the Western Illinois University School of Agriculture s 100th anniversary, six alumni have been chosen as the 2021 School of Agriculture Distinguished Alumni.
