A Pleasant Plains native arrested for official misconduct on the Springfield Police Department is now out on bond.
According to a report by WICS in Springfield, 26-year-old Taylor Staff of Springfield and a 2013 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School, was released from jail today.
Staff was arrested by the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation on charges of Class 3 Felony Official Misconduct, Class 1 Felony Criminal Sexual Assault, and Class 3 Felony Custodial Sexual Misconduct.
The charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred between January 2020 through July 2020 and involved 3 separate victims, with whom Staff had inappropriate contact while as a member of the Springfield Police Department.

Centralia, IL -(Effingham Radio)-An Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) – Zone 8 investigation leads to the arrest of two Centralia men for sexual abuse charges.
On Thursday, March 11, 2021, the Office of Marion County State’s Attorney Timothy Hudspeth charged Wilton Nicholas Herrera-Lopez, 25-year-old male of Centralia, IL with two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Kevin Josue Herrera-Guzman, 19-year-old male of Centralia, IL with Criminal Sexual Abuse.
As it relates to the two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony) charges against Herrera-Lopez,
he is alleged to have, during the month of February 2021, committed an act of sexual penetration with two separate juveniles between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age when the defendant was at least 5 years older than the juveniles.

The Macoupin County Coroner’s Office has identified a man found dead in a home in Virden on Monday. WAND-TV reports that the Coroner’s Office has identified 58-year-old John W. Rennie. he Macoupin County Coroner’s Office responded early Tuesday morning to the scene, located in the 700 block of North Dye Street, and pronounced him dead at 5:50 a.m.
According to WAND’s report, a Tuesday autopsy remains pending. Law enforcement reported Tuesday they discovered Rennie had trauma that led authorities to believe someone had possibly murdered him. Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation – Zone 6 officials then started a criminal investigation into Rennie’s death.
