COAL CITY, IL Grundy County Coroner John Callahan has identified the 56-year-old Braceville man who died Saturday afternoon in a kayak incident in Shadow Lakes, which is near Coal City. Richard R. Smith was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m. at the Morris Hospital emergency room where he was transported by a Coal City ambulance. Callahan said it is unclear exactly what happened as Smith was alone in the area at the time of the incident.
